In the process of going to the deep sea, the successful development and delivery of the "Science" marine science comprehensive research vessel is a milestone. In September 2012, the "Science" was officially delivered to the Institute of Oceanology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences for operation and management in Qingdao, marking the beginning of China's deep-sea ocean research from the perspective of the ocean system, and leading the historic leap of China's marine scientific survey from offshore to the ocean, and from shallow sea to deep sea. In the past ten years, "Science" has witnessed the glorious course of the rapid development of China's marine science and technology, and is also a microcosm of China's solid progress from a marine power to a marine power. Three generations of scientific research ships have carried Chinese scientists to the deep ocean and entered the 21st century. The ocean has once again become the focus of the world's attention, and the national strategic position of the ocean has been unprecedentedly improved. Marine scientific research is the foundation for building a powerful marine country. The scientific research ship is the infrastructure of marine scientific research. Without a scientific research ship with excellent performance, marine research can only be "frustrated". Reviewing the development of marine scientific research in New China, we can start with the development of scientific research vessels. In the early days of the founding of New China, scientific research ships were mainly transformed from old ships. In 1957, the first professional marine scientific research ship of New China, "Jinxing", refitted from the ocean rescue tugboat "Production No. 3", was officially listed. With the "Venus" as the main ship, the first large-scale national marine comprehensive survey of New China was carried out from 1958 to 1960, and the maritime resources of China were found out. In the 1960s, there began to be specially designed and built scientific research ships, the first 2500 ton marine internship survey ship "Dongfanghong", the 3000 ton comprehensive survey ship "Shijian", and the first "Xiangyanghong", "Yuanwang", "Science", "Experiment", "Exploration", "Dawn", "Struggle", and "China Marine Surveillance" series of scientific research ships scattered to various marine survey and research institutions. These research ships began to use advanced marine survey equipment. Compared with the survey ships refitted from old ships, they have "improved quality" in terms of performance, layout and matching of laboratories with special equipment.
