The tractor rumbled along the ridge. On the tractor, the driver operates meticulously. This is the working scene of the "beautiful city village" in the central city of Benin, an African country. "We have been growing cotton for generations. Since we used tractors, we can finish the agricultural work in half a day in the past three days." Isa Nakhom, a 25-year-old tractor driver, said. "Beautiful City Village" is the residence of China aided Benin cotton technical assistance project team. The China Benin cotton technical cooperation project started in 2013. Through the development of cotton seed selection, planting technology demonstration, agricultural machinery technology training, agricultural machinery equipment assistance and other work, it has promoted the upgrading of cotton production in Benin and helped local farmers get rid of poverty and become rich. Up to now, the project has completed 14 trainings, with more than 500 trainees, covering many regions of Benin. In May this year, Nahom and 34 other trainees participated in the first training course of cotton agricultural machinery technology in China and Malaysia in 2022. In the theory and practice classes, they systematically learned the basic knowledge of agricultural machinery, and mastered the operation essentials and daily maintenance techniques of tractors, seeders, threshers and other agricultural machinery. "We all passed the exam, and the aid project has also added new agricultural machinery and equipment to the village." Nakhom was impressed by the meticulous patience of Chinese experts. Compared with the agricultural production mode in the village, Nahom repeatedly sighed: "In the past, most villagers used the self-sufficient farming mode, doing a lot of work, but the cotton yield was not high." By joining the cotton planting demonstration cooperative in charge of the project team, Benin's rural landscape has undergone tremendous changes. "Under the guidance of Chinese experts, farmers have continuously optimized technologies such as ploughing and sowing, and the cotton yield has increased significantly." Nakhom said with a smile, "The villagers' income has increased several times, and the days will be better. Especially some agricultural technicians have not only expanded their houses many times, but also bought their own agricultural machinery." Senbia Benabin, a 26 year old local, also got a lot from the training class. He said proudly, "Because we can help the village grow and harvest cotton quickly, the villagers now call us' Cotton Superman '." Shou Xiaoyong, the leader of the China aided Benin Cotton Technical Assistance Project, introduced that in order to train local agricultural talents, the project team not only held agricultural machinery technical training courses every year, but also cooperated with the Chica Agricultural Vocational and Technical School near the camp to recruit graduates from the school to practice in the cotton base. Chinese experts also took this opportunity to promote cotton planting projects with characteristics, and improve the agricultural mechanization awareness and the use of agricultural machinery of Beninese farmers. Benin is an important cotton producing country in Africa. Last year, the national cotton output reached 800000 tons. "We will continue to increase cotton technical assistance, further reduce the labor intensity of local cotton farmers, improve productivity, increase local income, and help Benin achieve agricultural modernization at an early date." The first Xiaoyong said. The cooperation between China and Belgium in the field of cotton planting has yielded fruitful results. Xina, representative of Benin Cotton Research Institute, said that with the full cooperation of agricultural experts in Benin and China, Benin is expected to achieve the goal of 1 million tons of cotton production next year. Ba Gang, Technical Advisor of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries of Benin, said that China's cotton technical assistance project in Benin is an important driving force for Benin's agricultural modernization
