Zhangye has 5 national intangible cultural heritage projects (Hexi Baojuan, Yugur costumes, Yugur marriage customs, Yugur folk songs, Ganzhou ditty), 33 provincial intangible cultural heritage projects, 128 municipal intangible cultural heritage projects, and 385 county/district intangible cultural heritage projects; There are 5 national level inheritors, 56 provincial level inheritors, 394 municipal level inheritors, and 447 county level inheritors. The protection projects cover folk literature, music, dance, drama, folk art, competition, art, handicraft, traditional medicine, folk customs and other categories.
