Recently, the large-scale symphonic divertimento Song of Mountains and Rivers, directed by Li Xincao, the head and chief conductor of the Chinese Symphony Orchestra, premiered at the Beijing Concert Hall. "Ode to Mountains and Rivers" is an original concert created by the Chinese Symphony Orchestra over a year. It is also a work selected in the 2022-2023 "Symphony of the Times" creation support plan of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Rooted in the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation for five thousand years, the work aims to depict the magnificent rivers and mountains of the motherland through the art form of symphony, and enthusiastically eulogize the glorious course, great achievements, and spiritual pedigree of the people led by the Communist Party of China over the past hundred years, especially since the new era, and play a strong voice of the times that urges people to forge ahead. "Ode to Mountains and Rivers" consists of five chapters: "century", "civilization", "dedication", "homesickness" and "mountains and rivers". Young composers of the Chinese Symphony Orchestra Yang Fan, Wang Huatong, Jiang Ying, Huang Kairan and Li Shaosheng compose music respectively. The first chapter "Century" points to the unprecedented change in a century with the concept of time, presenting two forms of "horn" and "warmth". The horn indicates that the Chinese nation has sounded the "rally" of rejuvenation, and warmth represents that China in the new era will embrace the world with a more inclusive attitude. The second chapter, "Civilization", reflects the pluralistic and ancient Chinese civilization in a way that combines Chinese and Western styles. Composers use the piano music from ancient Chinese music houses as the main music material, and integrate contemporary creative techniques and expression methods. The third chapter "dedication" shows the spirit of great love, which means that people from all walks of life contribute their strength and value to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The composer endows the protagonist with the transformation of self-consciousness and the pursuit of the inner spiritual world through the transition from minor to major. The fourth chapter, "homesickness", is created in the form of string quartet and symphony orchestra, which is the most expressive part of emotion. It mainly shows the theme of individual and collective interaction and the touching feelings of overseas Chinese at home and abroad. As the last chapter, "Mountains and Rivers" combines the concepts of time and space, closely follows the "title eye" of the whole symphony divertimento, and depicts a magnificent scene of China's social development and national progress with passionate notes, taking the day of the motherland in the new era as the incision.
