1455 national food safety standards have been issued in China

The reporter recently learned from the theme day activity of the National Health Commission in 2022 National Food Safety Publicity Week that up to now, China has issued 1455 national standards for food safety, including more than 20000 indicators, covering more than 340 food categories consumed by Chinese residents, the main hazards affecting the health of Chinese residents, the whole chain from production to consumption, and the whole population from general to special. In order to focus on solving the problem of "a large number of standards, but no one knows which to use" for food safety, the National Health Commission has established a national standards review committee in recent years, which includes nearly 400 experts from 17 departments and units, and has taken the lead in sorting out about 5000 relevant standards that were originally distributed in 15 departments and involved food according to the newly revised Food Safety Law. Liu Jinfeng, Director of the Department of Food Safety Standards, Monitoring and Evaluation of the National Health Commission, said that food safety standards, risk monitoring and evaluation are important work to implement the requirements of "the most rigorous standards" and the concept of "big food". The field of food safety in the health system will be problem and demand oriented, continue to improve the system and mechanism, and strengthen the system and capacity building. On the theme day activity, around the implementation of the "Fourteenth Five Year Plan" for food safety standards and monitoring and evaluation, relevant leaders and experts from the National Food Safety Risk Assessment Center and the Institute of Nutrition and Health of the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention also made special presentations to the public. The theme of this activity is "jointly creating safe and new food development and sharing a better new life". In combination with the "Fourteenth Five Year Plan" of food safety standards and monitoring and evaluation, it shows innovative ideas, supports high-quality development and other initiatives. At the same time, it conducts expert interviews on food safety and nutrition health issues of public concern, spreads scientific information, and creates an atmosphere of broad participation of the whole society.
