At about 8:00 a.m. local time, all the officers and soldiers of the 21st batch of China's multi-functional engineering unit for peacekeeping in Lebanon lined up in an orderly and solemn manner, held a flag raising ceremony, reviewed the peacekeeping oath, released the doves of peace, and demonstrated the Chinese soldiers' firm determination to maintain peace with practical actions. (Flag raising ceremony.) (Peacekeepers and soldiers salute the national flag.) The moment the dove flew up, all the officers and soldiers were elated and burst into warm applause. Commander Yan Xiaoliang said: "The Chinese people love peace and know the value of peace, but the security threats facing the world are always lingering. We also come here to maintain peace. We must remember the oath, gather consensus, gather strength, and make due contributions to the maintenance of world peace." (Chinese peacekeepers released doves of peace.) After attending the ceremony, the demining officers and soldiers of the unit went to the minefield near the "Blue Line" in the southern border of Lebanon as usual to carry out the demining task. Since the end of August this year, a new group of mine clearance officers and soldiers have been qualified by the United Nations for mine clearance and explosive removal. With their professional accomplishments and excellent skills, they have cleared 354 square meters of minefields and successfully destroyed 74 pieces of unexploded objects, which has been highly praised by UNIFIL and local residents. (Minesweepers deal with unexploded materials in the minefield.) (The UN staff praised the Chinese minesweepers.) In addition to demining, the unit also undertakes engineering maintenance tasks in UNIFIL camps. Since arriving in the mission area, the team has successively gone to the headquarters of UNIFIL and the Malaysian battalion for construction. The Chinese peacekeepers have completed their tasks with high efficiency, high standards and high quality, which has won unanimous praise from foreign troops. (Chinese peacekeepers help the Malaysian battalion lift the generator.) Over the past 16 years, China has sent more than 7000 peacekeepers to Lebanon. In the environment of frequent dangerous situations and turbulent situations, they successively explored and cleared nearly 2 million square meters of suspected minefields and more than 15000 meters of patrol roads, found and removed more than 10000 mines and explosives of all kinds, creating the highest quality, lowest cost and zero casualty rate in international mine clearance. They have a good reputation and image in the international community and UNIFIL, effectively demonstrating the PLA's division of peace, division of justice A good image of a civilized teacher.
