The announcement made it clear that new energy vehicles purchased from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023 will be exempted from vehicle purchase tax. The purchase date shall be determined according to the issuing date of the unified invoice for motor vehicle sales or the special payment letter for customs duties and other valid vouchers. Since the implementation of the policy of exempting new energy vehicles from vehicle purchase tax, the consumption potential of new energy vehicles has been effectively stimulated. Data released by the State Administration of Taxation previously showed that from January to July this year, new energy vehicles were exempted from vehicle purchase tax of 40.68 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 108.5%, including 7.17 billion yuan exempted from vehicle purchase tax in July, a year-on-year increase of 119.1%.
