Italian parliamentary elections begin to vote
2022-09-26
Italian parliamentary elections began on the 25th. Promoting economic recovery, dealing with the problem of illegal immigrants and refugees, and coordinating relations with the European Union are the three major issues concerned by voters in this election. Voting stations across Italy opened early that morning to start the voting process. According to Italian media reports, there were about 50.86 million legal voters in this election. The preliminary election results will be announced in the early morning of the 26th local time. The poll results released before the election showed that the support rate of the center right coalition composed of the Italian Brothers, the Alliance Party and the Italian Power Party was about 47%, the support rate of the center left coalition led by the Democratic Party was about 28%, and the support rate of the five-star movement party was about 13%. In July this year, several parties within the Italian coalition government were absent from the government trust vote. Prime Minister Draghi said that "the trust foundation supporting the coalition government" no longer exists, and submitted his resignation to President Matarella twice. Since then, Matarela announced the dissolution of parliament, and held parliamentary elections in advance. Draghi served as Prime Minister of the caretaker government. (Liu Xinshe)
