2022-09-21
The ten volume Anthology of Zhong Guisong was published by Zhejiang Education Press in February 2022. The anthology, with 3 million words, focuses on the cultural celebrities in Tongxiang. It not only includes seven books of Mr. Zhong, including the Biography of Mao Dun, the History of Mao Dun Studies in the 20th Century, the Starting Decade -- Mao Dun in the Commercial Press, as the main works of Mao Dun research experts in this field, but also selects the biographical works Shen Zemin's Biography, Zhang Qinqiu's Biography, and the literary anthology Feng Zikai: Waters, Mountains and People, Feng Zikai and Hangzhou, These words convey Mr. Zhong, a researcher from Tongxiang,'s deep respect and strong research interest for the ancestors of his hometown, and also record his great contributions to the research of modern Chinese literature and ideology. After reading Zhong Guisong's Collected Works, the strongest reading feeling is "thick". This kind of massiness is not to win by quantity, but the resultant force of the following factors. First of all, the richness of the work comes from rich and detailed historical data. Reading anthologies is like walking into a museum of historical materials. For example, when compiling the Biography of Mao Dun, Mr. Zhong not only extensively selected materials from Mao Dun's literary works, memoirs, letters and diaries, but also cited research materials such as the Historical Materials of the Literary World compiled by Yang Zhihua and Mao Dun's research papers in the quarterly Historical Materials of New Literature. In addition to referring to Mao Dun's works and research materials that had been published publicly at that time, Mr. Zhong also went to Tongxiang Museum to consult the manuscript of Mao Dun's composition in primary school, wrote a letter to Mr. Wei Tao, a descendant of Mao Dun, for relevant details, and accumulated a large number of valuable first-hand materials. With such solid historical data as support, it is no wonder that Mr. Ding Fan praised the book as "the best book in Mao Dun's biography". The reason why Zhong Guisong's Collected Works can contain such a large volume and diverse types of historical materials depends on the author's sensitivity to historical materials and consciousness of preserving historical materials. This awareness can be seen in the article "Feng Zikai's Family and Past", which is included in the fifth volume of the anthology "Feng Zikai: Scenes of Waters and Mountains and People". In this article, Mr. Zhong sorted out his correspondence with Feng Gui, Feng Zikai's niece of his family. These letters provide valuable information for future generations to understand the family past and early experiences of Feng Zikai, a cultural master. It is worth mentioning that in the early 1990s when this article was written, Mr. Zhong was responsible for the publicity work in Tongxiang County Party Committee, while relying on local cultural resources to carry out research on Tongxiang cultural celebrities, while Mr. Feng Gui was working in the Yiyuan Hall in Shimen Bay, which was rebuilt by the local government. For the needs of work and research, the two teachers had no shortage of opportunities to meet. The reason why Mr. Zhong intentionally chose to ask Mr. Feng Zikai about his family's past events in the form of letters was entirely due to the consideration of preserving historical materials. Today, Mr. Feng Gui is dead. Thanks to Mr. Zhong's foresight, these precious materials can be completely and clearly preserved by taking letters as the carrier, and become valuable materials for later generations to study Feng Zikai. Mr. Zhong Guisong also paid attention to the correction of historical materials. More than ten years after the publication of the Biography of Mao Dun, Mr. Zhong was invited by Nanjing University to write the Biography of Mao Dun for the Biography Series of Modern Chinese Cultural Celebrities. Compared with the Biography of Mao Dun, Pingzhuan not only accentuates the color of "evaluation"
