Bujumbura: the completion ceremony of Burundi's ruzibazi hydropower station project funded by China was held in ruzibazi village, Rumonge Province on the 6th. President ndayismiye of Burundi attended the completion ceremony and delivered a speech, praising China for overcoming difficulties and completing the project on schedule. In his speech at the completion ceremony, ndaishmiye said that China is a reliable and sincere friend of Burundi and has always given firm support to Burundi. He thanked China for its equal cooperation with Burkina Faso in infrastructure, agriculture and other fields, and praised China's contractual spirit of overcoming many difficulties caused by the epidemic and completing the project on schedule. Zhao Jiangping, Chinese ambassador to Burundi, said in his speech that the completion of the luzibazi hydropower station project will be a new starting point for cooperation between China and Burundi. Guided by the "nine projects" of China Africa cooperation, China will continue to support Burundi and other African countries in developing green and renewable energy to achieve energy self-sufficiency. Luzibaqi hydropower station is located in the lower reaches of luzibaqi River, and construction started in October 2018. The project is surveyed and designed by PowerChina Chengdu survey, design and Research Institute, constructed by PowerChina 14th Bureau of hydropower, and managed by PowerChina Central South Survey and Design Institute. The last unit of the hydropower station completed the trial operation in July this year, and the three units of the hydropower station achieved the goal of grid connected power generation in that month.
