On September 6, the BASF (Guangdong) integrated base project invested by BASF Group of Germany in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province held a comprehensive construction and the first unit commissioning ceremony. Han Zheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice premier of the State Council, attended and announced the comprehensive construction of the project and the commissioning of the first unit. On the morning of the same day, Han Zheng, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Guangdong provincial Party committee, Li Xi, attended the comprehensive construction of the project and the commissioning ceremony of the first set of equipment by video link at the Beijing conference hall, and Bo mule, chairman of the Executive Board of BASF Group, attended the conference hall in Zhanjiang, Guangdong. Relevant responsible persons of BASF Group, national development and Reform Commission and Guangdong Province delivered speeches at the three venues. At about 10:20, Han Zheng announced that the comprehensive construction of BASF (Guangdong) integrated base project was launched and the first unit was put into operation. BASF (Guangdong) integrated base project, with a total investment of about 10 billion euros, is the largest single project invested by German enterprises in China. The project was launched in November 2019. Today, the first unit was officially put into operation. The first phase of the project has entered the comprehensive construction stage, mainly including the ethylene and downstream processing units with an annual output of 1 million tons. Upon completion of the project, Zhanjiang, Guangdong will become BASF's third largest integrated production base in the world. The comprehensive construction of BASF (Guangdong) integrated base project and the commissioning of the first unit are of great significance for China and Germany to deepen economic, trade and investment cooperation, jointly deal with the impact of the epidemic, and maintain the safety and stability of the global petrochemical industry chain and supply chain.
