Hungary has experienced its hottest summer since 1901, the National Weather Service said on the 5th. Data from the Hungarian National Weather Bureau show that the average temperature in the summer of 2022 (June to August) is 22.8 degrees Celsius, 2 degrees Celsius higher than the average temperature of 20.8 degrees Celsius in the summer of 1991 to 2020, and 0.5 degrees Celsius higher than the previous highest summer average temperature in 2003. In Hungary this summer, there were 11 WEATHER temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius, 8 days more than the long-term average; There were 46 days when the temperature exceeded 30 degrees Celsius, 20 days more than the long-term average. From the end of June to the end of August, the Hungarian National Weather Service issued five high temperature warnings. During this period, the highest temperature in central and southern Hungary was close to 40 degrees Celsius. In addition to the heat, Hungary also suffered drought this summer. According to the data of the Hungarian National Meteorological Bureau, the national average precipitation in the first eight months of this year was only 263.6 mm, the third lowest level since the beginning of the 20th century, second only to 1992 and 1993.
