At 12:52 on September 5, a magnitude 6.8 earthquake occurred in Luding County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, with a focal depth of 16 kilometers. After the earthquake, officers and men of the people's Liberation Army and the armed police force, militia reservists and other rescue forces quickly responded and went into emergency rescue and disaster relief. The joint command center of the Western Theater resolutely implemented chairman Xi's important instructions, promptly started the emergency plan, drew up advance orders, established command links, comprehensively grasped the situation, and linked with the Sichuan military region to deal with the disaster in accordance with the requirements of "speed is paramount, people first, and strict organization". At the same time, the army, air force, Tibet Military Region, Xining joint logistics support center and other units in the theater were instructed to make preparations for mobilization. After receiving the order, the service support brigade of a certain group army stationed in Sichuan dispatched 200 officers and men, carrying rescue equipment, to the earthquake epicenter to carry out rescue. The Sichuan military region organized nearly 300 officers and soldiers and militia to arrive in Yanzigou town and lengqi Town, which were seriously affected by the disaster, and immediately carried out search and rescue, transfer and resettlement, tent construction and other work. Nearly 400 officers and men of the Sichuan Armed Police Corps advanced to the epicenter from two directions by combining motorized mobility and walking. At about 15:00, they arrived in Moxi town and Detuo Town, which were seriously affected by the disaster, and organized several groups to carry out rescue on the spot. The Sichuan Tibet military station of the Tibet Military Region dispatched 12 emergency rescue vehicles such as cooking trailers and transport vehicles, and nearly 100 officers and men rushed to the disaster area with tents and other living materials to provide support for front-line rescue personnel.
