The first meeting of the permanent joint mechanism of Türkiye, Finland and Sweden was held in the southern Finnish city of vanta on the 26th. The participants discussed the concrete steps to implement the memorandum signed by the three parties in June this year and agreed that the tripartite permanent joint mechanism should continue to hold expert level meetings this autumn. At the NATO summit held in Madrid, the capital of Spain, in June this year, Türkiye, Finland and Sweden signed a memorandum confirming that Türkiye agreed to support Finland and Sweden to join NATO. Turkey's security concerns are also reflected in the memorandum, that is, Finland and Sweden will not support the Kurdish workers' party, the Syrian Kurdish armed "people's protection force" and the "GuLun movement". Finland and Sweden agreed to lift restrictions on the export of defense equipment to Türkiye. In addition, the three countries agreed to establish a permanent joint mechanism to follow up the implementation of the memorandum and strengthen cooperation in the field of common security. Finland and Sweden originally pursued a military non aligned policy, but formally applied to join NATO in May this year. On July 5, representatives of 30 NATO member states signed the protocol on Finland and Sweden's accession to the treaty, officially launching the NATO North expansion process. According to the regulations, after the 30 NATO member States sign the protocol of Finland Switzerland accession, the next step is to ratify the protocol by the parliaments of all Member States.
