2022-08-22
From ancient inscriptions to Oracle Bone Inscriptions and gold inscriptions, from seal script to official script to regular script, running script and cursive script, the continuous evolution of Chinese characters highlights the continuous inheritance of Chinese civilization; The utensils of the Shang Dynasty thousands of years ago, however, are similar in shape to the characters, allowing us to peek into the life of our ancestors; Shuowen Jiezi, written in the Eastern Han Dynasty, is the first dictionary in China and the embodiment of the material and spiritual civilization in the Yellow River Basin... Chinese civilization has a long history, and Chinese characters are its important carrier and witness. Now, the ancient philology is coruscating new vitality and vigor. Recently, the 8th Forum on the development of Chinese characters was held in Beijing. Domestic experts and scholars once again focused on the study of ancient characters. The forum was jointly sponsored by the Chinese character Museum, the Chinese character society, the Chinese ancient character research society, the Xia Shang archaeology Professional Committee of the Chinese archaeological society, and the unearthed literature research and protection center of Tsinghua University. More than 60 experts and scholars from the fields of oracle bone, philology, archaeology, bamboo and silk studies, cultural and museum research, artificial intelligence and other fields conducted in-depth discussions on the theme of "Research on ancient characters such as oracle bone inscriptions and newly unearthed documents". The cross research between philology and other disciplines is the focus of this forum. Many scholars have explored oracle bone science and ancient philology from the perspective of archaeology, and emphasized the importance of multi-disciplinary integration to the development of philology. Liu Yiman, a researcher of the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, combined with his personal experience of participating in the archaeological excavation in the Yin Ruins, emphasized the important role of combining archaeology with the study of oracle bones in interpreting the oracle bones and understanding the original meaning of the characters. Liu Yiman took the characters "you" and "Zun" in the oracle bone inscriptions as examples to describe the role of archaeological excavated objects in the identification of the oracle bone inscriptions. The word "you" in the oracle bone inscriptions is like a big mouth Zun with a sharp bottom. It is a kind of utensil mainly used for holding wine. The word "Zun" reflects the meaning of offering wine in front of God by holding wine in people's hands. In the oracle bone inscriptions, there is also a character that indicates that two people stand opposite each other and hold Zun, which has not been defined in previous studies. Liu Yiman believes that this character should be a heterogeneous or complex form of the word "Zun". She combined with the physical explanation of the giant big mouth statue newly excavated in the archaeology of dasikong village, Anyang, Henan Province in late June 2021. The big mouth statue is 112 cm high and nearly 60 cm in diameter. After the wine is filled, it needs two people to hold it with both hands before it can be moved. The "you" in the middle of the unknown type is close to 2 / 3 of the height of the "people" on both sides, which is exactly the image portrayal of this huge mouth statue unearthed. The development of science and technology is also beneficial to the study of philology, especially the study of ancient Chinese philology. Huang Tianshu, Professor of the center for research and protection of unearthed documents of Tsinghua University, said that with the improvement of printing technology, the description of oracle bones has been provided with high-definition color photos and six side color photos. The color photos can be enlarged and observed in the computer, which greatly improves the research conditions of oracle bones, and enables the relevant information left by the ancients on the oracle bones to be comprehensively collected and truthfully presented. Mo Bofeng, a professor of the school of Arts of Capital Normal University, showed his results of using artificial intelligence technology to test the first nine volumes of bamboo slips of the Warring States period collected by Tsinghua University, and shared his experience in improving the accuracy of the couplets. Nowadays, more and more people pay attention to philology and become lovers of literary culture. According to
