2022-08-19
After months of comprehensive repair by experts from China and Germany, the Chinese garden Yingyi garden, located in the zoo of Duisburg, Germany, reopened on the 17th to welcome visitors. This garden featuring ancient Chu style covers an area of about 5400 square meters. It was donated by Wuhan, Hubei Province, China to its sister city Duisburg. It was officially completed and opened to the outside world in 1988. For decades, the classical and beautiful Yingqu garden has attracted a large number of tourists. As time goes by, the garden needs to be repaired. In 2021, the two cities agreed that Wuhan would pack and send the ancient building materials needed for maintenance to Duisburg, and help German technicians complete the repair and renovation work online. On the day of reopening, there was an endless stream of tourists in the park. Renate, a local tourist, said happily: "I am a regular visitor to this Chinese garden. I am glad to see that the garden has finally reopened after a long time. I am glad to see that the garden has maintained the familiar appearance." Christian schlainer, spokesman of Duisburg zoo, said that although the pavilions, footpaths, arch bridges and other places in the park have been repaired, the repaired garden still remains original through regular video conference exchanges with Chinese experts, remote display of renovation progress from the garden site to Chinese experts and suggestions. In 1982, Wuhan and Duisburg became the first pair of sister cities between China and Germany. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of sister city relations. The mayor of Duisburg, Zeren Linke, also attended the opening ceremony on the same day and told reporters that the park is a model in the friendly city relationship carefully maintained by the two cities. He hoped that the two sides would continue to cooperate and learn from each other in the future. (news agency)
