2022-08-18
The Russian State Aerospace Corporation announced on the evening of the 17th that due to the failure of the spacesuit, Russian astronauts altemiev and matviev ended the spacewalk mission of the day ahead of schedule. At 20:54 local time on the 17th in Moscow, the two astronauts returned to the "exploration" experimental module of the international space station, ending the day's spacewalk mission. During the more than 4-hour spacewalk, the two astronauts continued to prepare for the operation of the European robot arm (ERA), including the installation of two cameras and the removal of relevant equipment. The spacewalk was originally planned to take more than six hours. Due to the abnormal drop in the battery voltage of the spacesuit, under the instruction of the Russian flight control center, altemiev returned to the "exploration" experimental module in advance and connected the spacesuit to the power supply. Matviev also returned smoothly. At present, the astronauts are in good health. This mission is the seventh and third spacewalks of altemiev and matviev respectively. On March 18 this year, altemiev, Matveyev and another Russian astronaut Korsakov entered the international space station. They plan to return to earth on September 30 this year. (news agency)
