(photo: this year, many Hong Kong people are suspected to have fallen into job hunting traps and have been lured and trafficked to Myanmar, Cambodia and other countries.) Recently, the incidents of Taiwanese being lured and trafficked to Southeast Asian countries such as Cambodia have been sensational. There have also been a number of requests for help in Hong Kong. Since January this year, the Immigration Department has received 17 requests for help from Hong Kong people's families, alleging that their families are suspected of losing contact in the above countries; In the same period, the police also received 12 requests for help from people who were detained overseas because of deception such as mistakenly falling into job hunting / online dating. The experiences of Hong Kong people abroad have been highly concerned by the SAR government and the state. Of the 17 requests for assistance received by the immd, it has been learned that 12 people have left the place safely. The immd is trying its best to track down the information of the remaining five people. The Security Bureau attaches great importance to the case of Hong Kong people being cheated to go to Southeast Asian countries and calls on the public to beware of job hunting traps. The office of the Ministry of foreign affairs in Hong Kong pointed out that it would actively look for the whereabouts of the missing persons. In the next step, we will continue to follow up the progress of the case with the Immigration Department and the embassies and consulates in front of us. The Immigration Department and the police have all received cases of Hong Kong people seeking help from overseas since this year. The local media have revealed a number of suspected cases of Hong Kong people being cheated in recent days. A local woman was lobbied to invest in cryptocurrency and lost $1800 before she knew she had been cheated. However, the cheating man claimed that he was trapped in a place similar to a resort on the border of Myanmar and was forced to participate in telephone fraud. If he did not cheat HK $5 million, he had to pay a ransom to escape. The man also revealed that his ransom was HK $300000. The camp was in Karen state on the Thai Burmese border. The local area was occupied by the militia and was in a state of anarchy. The camp was controlled by the Chinese. There were hundreds of "employees" in the camp. Some trapped people tried to escape from the camp and were shot by people. They also witnessed some seriously injured people being carried away. It is also reported that a 28 year old local man met a woman through social media about three years ago and became a couple. Under the sweet talk of the other party, he was tricked into meeting in Thailand in mid July this year. The other party paid for the man's air ticket and was responsible for his local food, clothing and transportation. However, when the man arrived in Bangkok, his mobile phone and passport were confiscated and he was taken to an unknown place. Later, he learned that he was in Myanmar. Some members of the criminal syndicate asked him to engage in fraud, and he was severely beaten if he did not obey. He said that he was beaten almost every day, including being surrounded by many people and being attacked by electric shock rods, leaving long scars on his whole body. In response to Ta Kung Pao's enquiries, the Immigration Department said that the "Assistance Group for Hong Kong residents abroad" had received a total of 17 requests from Hong Kong residents' families since January this year, saying that their families were suspected of losing contact in Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia or Laos. At present, 12 of them have left the place safely. The team will continue to maintain close contact with the families of the other five victims, the police force, the office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of foreign affairs in Hong Kong, and the Chinese Embassy / Consulate General in Hong Kong to follow up the cases. The immigration department reminds members of the public that if they need assistance overseas, they can call the 24-hour help hotline (852) 1868 of the Immigration Department's "help Hong Kong residents group". They can also use the mobile application of the Immigration Department to call the 1868 hotline with network data or use the online help form for help. The office of the Ministry of foreign affairs in Hong Kong said that the Department would spare no effort to protect overseas incense
