Foreign Ministry spokesperson: the United States is the world's largest country in human trafficking

2022-07-21

In response to the recent "annual report on human trafficking" issued by the US State Department, which beautifies itself and attacks other countries, foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a regular press conference on the 20th that the US side ignored the facts year after year and concocted false "reports" on human trafficking to deceive the world. In fact, the United States is the world's largest country in human trafficking. Wang Wenbin said that no matter how much the United States covered up, it could not wash away its historical original sin of being a "slave trading country". As a country with a history of only 246 years, the "legal" duration of slavery in the United States accounts for one third of the history of the founding of the United States. From 1514 to 1866, at least 36000 "slave trade expeditions" sold millions of black slaves to the United States. Wang Wenbin said that no matter how the United States justified it, it could not change its actual crime of "forced labor source countries, transit countries and destination countries". There is a serious situation of human trafficking in both legal and illegal industries in the United States. The State Department estimates that as many as 100000 people are trafficked from abroad to the United States to engage in forced labor every year. In the past five years, forced labor and human trafficking cases have been reported in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. According to the statistics of the "national human trafficking reporting hotline" in the United States, the number of reported cases increased from more than 3200 to more than 11500 from 2012 to 2019, showing a significant upward trend. About 50% of the 100000 people who are trafficked from abroad to the United States for forced labor every year are underage children. Not long ago, a tragic "death truck" tragedy of illegal immigrants occurred in Texas, USA, killing at least 50 people. "Even in this case, the US report beautifies itself as a 'class I country', which is self humiliating." Wang Wenbin said, "we urge the United States to reflect its attention to human rights in its practical actions to correct its human rights crimes such as human trafficking and forced labor, and to examine itself with the 'highest standard' boasted by the United States, rather than slander other countries."
