Singapore's Foreign Ministry spokesman confirmed on the evening of the 14th that Sri Lanka's president, gothabaya Rajapaksa, had been allowed to enter Singapore under the name of a private visit. In response to media inquiries on the website of the Ministry of foreign affairs, the spokesman said that Rajapaksa had not sought asylum, and Singapore had not granted him asylum. Singapore generally does not grant asylum requests. According to Singapore media reports, Rajapaksa took a Saudi Airlines plane from the Maldives and arrived at Singapore Changi Airport at about 7:20 p.m. Singapore time on the 14th. Protests broke out in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, on the 9th. At the emergency political party meeting held on the afternoon of the same day, most party leaders asked the president and the prime minister to resign immediately and form an interim government with the participation of all parties as soon as possible.
