On June 6, the letter page of this newspaper published "looking forward to solving the problem of ponding at the school gate", reflecting the problem of ponding in front of Beichen primary school, Chengguan Town, Gucheng County, Xiangyang City, Hubei Province. Relevant departments of Gucheng County confirmed that the problems reflected in the letter were true, and investigated the reasons why Beichen primary school was prone to waterlogging. The terrain around Beichen primary school is high, and the elevation of the school's internal drainage pipe network is lower than that of Zhuyang road. In case of heavy rainfall, the rainwater from Zhuyang road converges to Beichen primary school along the road surface, which is easy to cause waterlogging in this section. Xiangyang municipal Party committee and Xiangyang municipal government attach great importance to the problems reflected in the letter. The main responsible comrades of the municipal Party committee said that Gucheng County should make solid rectification in place, solve this problem as soon as possible, do not affect the production and life of students and nearby residents, and instruct relevant cadres to take charge of this matter. At present, the CPC Gucheng County Committee and Gucheng County Government have launched the Beichen Avenue rainwater and sewage pipeline upgrading project (see Figure). The total investment of the project is planned to be 48.02 million yuan. The Beichen primary school is designed to lay 1895 meters of rainwater pipe network, 1830 meters of sewage pipe network and 4 kilometers of hardened roads. The county urban management department plans to complete the laying of rainwater pipe network around Beichen primary school in early August to ensure that the waterlogging problem of Beichen primary school is completely solved. Gucheng County Government has organized relevant departments to study the comprehensive treatment plan, and instructed the county urban management department to urge the construction unit to reverse the construction period and speed up the construction progress of rainwater and sewage pipe network. In view of the rainy weather during the construction period, the County Education Bureau, Chengguan town and its affiliated communities are required to take emergency measures in time to solve the problem of teachers and students entering and leaving the campus.
