Gustavo petro wins Colombia's presidential election

Colombia's national civil registry announced the preliminary counting results on the 19th, showing that Gustavo petro, a candidate of the left-wing election coalition "Columbia historical convention coalition", won the second round of the Colombian presidential election on the same day. According to the statistics of 99.57% of the votes, the vote rates of petro and independent candidate rudolfhernandez were 50.48% and 47.26% respectively, and petro was nearly 720000 votes ahead of Hernandez. In a speech after the victory, petro said that this is the victory of the Colombian people. Colombian President Duke congratulated petro on his victory and said that he would meet with petro soon and start a harmonious and transparent power transition process. Hernandez acknowledged his defeat in a speech on the same day. Born in 1960, petro served as a senator, representative and mayor of Bogota. During his tenure as mayor of Bogota, he vigorously promoted the fight against corruption and the construction of public utilities. Petro ran for president twice in 2010 and 2018. The first round of voting in Colombia's presidential election was held on May 29, with petro and Hernandez winning 40.32% and 28.15% respectively, ranking the top two.
