Gazprom reduces the supply of "beixi-1" natural gas pipeline again

2022-06-16

Gazprom (Gazprom) issued a statement on the 15th that the gas supply volume of "beixi-1" natural gas pipeline will be reduced to no more than 67million cubic meters per day from the 16th. This is the second time that Gazprom has reduced the supply of "beixi-1" natural gas pipeline to Europe in two days. In the statement, Gazprom said that because Siemens of Germany could not provide timely maintenance for its compressor parts, the other gas compressor in the "poltowaya" compressor station of the "beixi-1" natural gas pipeline would stop operation. Gazprom announced on the 14th that due to the failure of German Siemens to deliver gas compressor units to Russia for repair in time, Gazprom was forced to reduce the gas transmission volume of "beixi-1" natural gas pipeline, reducing the daily gas transmission volume from 167million cubic meters to 100million cubic meters. The "beixi-1" natural gas pipeline built in 2011 starts from Viborg in Russia in the East and leads to Germany through the Baltic Sea. In recent years, it has been in overload operation. The parallel "beixi-2" natural gas pipeline project was completed in 2021. In February this year, affected by the changes in the situation between Russia and Ukraine, Germany announced the suspension of the certification procedure for the "beixi-2" natural gas pipeline project.
