On the morning of May 16, Premier Li Keqiang held a telephone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz at Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai. Li Keqiang said that China and Pakistan are close and friendly neighbors and staunch friends. China has always given priority to its relations with Pakistan in peripheral diplomacy. As always, China will firmly support Pakistan in safeguarding national sovereignty and security, supporting Pakistan in developing economy, improving people's livelihood and maintaining financial stability. China is willing to strengthen strategic communication with Pakistan, promote cooperation on major projects such as China Pakistan Economic corridor, and strengthen personnel exchanges between the two sides under the condition of doing a good job in epidemic prevention and control. Li Keqiang pointed out that China was shocked and indignant at the recent attack on Chinese citizens in Karachi and strongly condemned the terrorist attack. It is hoped that Pakistan will bring the murderer to justice as soon as possible, make every effort to deal with the aftermath, comfort the relatives and injured of the victims, and comprehensively strengthen the security measures for Chinese institutions and personnel in Pakistan to ensure that similar tragedies will not be repeated. Chabaz once again expressed deep condolences for the deaths of Chinese personnel caused by the Karachi terrorist attack, expressed sincere condolences to the injured, and stressed that Pakistan strongly condemns terrorism, cherishes the life safety of Chinese personnel in Pakistan, does not distinguish between the Chinese casualties as their compatriots, and will make every effort to investigate the truth of the incident, arrest the perpetrators and severely punish them according to law. Pakistan will strengthen security measures for all institutions and personnel in Pakistan and China to ensure that similar incidents will not happen again.
