On May 10, the Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Commission launched the 2022 joint funding scheme between the mainland and Hong Kong to solicit application R & D projects cooperated between Hong Kong and mainland institutions on three specific themes: biotechnology, artificial intelligence and new materials. It plans to accept applications from now on and the deadline is June 30. Details of the three themes are as follows: Biotechnology: research and development of biological drugs such as vaccines and antibodies, research on the prevention and treatment of major clinical diseases with traditional Chinese medicine, research on the creation of new traditional Chinese medicine, and synthetic biological technology. Artificial intelligence: security and privacy research of artificial intelligence system, intelligent transportation, intelligent robot and related application technology in extreme weather / natural disasters, brain like intelligence and intelligent medical treatment (including medical robot). New materials: optoelectronic materials, third generation semiconductor technology, key materials for hydrogen fuel cells, high safety lithium-ion battery materials, biomedical materials. The innovation and Technology Commission pointed out that the plan aims to support and encourage Hong Kong and the mainland to strengthen scientific research cooperation. Relevant applications must be jointly submitted by institutions in Hong Kong and the mainland and submitted to the innovation and Technology Commission of the HKSAR Government and the Ministry of science and technology of the people's Republic of China respectively. The R & D work of the applied project must be carried out in both places, with elements of cooperation between the two places. The innovation and Technology Commission and the Ministry of science and technology will provide funding to applicants in Hong Kong and the mainland respectively, and monitor the progress of projects in accordance with their respective regulations.
