This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the ROK and is also the year of cultural exchanges between China and the ROK. At present, China and South Korea have close high-level exchanges, deepening practical cooperation and smooth multilateral communication and coordination. Especially against the backdrop of the global economic downturn, China ROK economic and trade cooperation rose against the trend last year, highlighting the resilience and great potential of China ROK economic and trade cooperation. Wang Qishan stressed that China and the ROK are forever close neighbors, important cooperative partners and share broad common interests. No matter how the international and regional situation changes, the fundamentals of China ROK friendly cooperation will not and cannot change. This is an important revelation from the history of China ROK relations. China is willing to work with the ROK to promote the continuous development of China ROK strategic cooperative partnership and better benefit the two peoples. China appreciates the important contribution made by the ROK to improving North South relations and promoting the political settlement process of the Peninsula issue, and is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with the ROK and work together to achieve denuclearization and long-term stability on the peninsula at an early date. Over the past five years, ROK China relations have overcome difficulties and achieved development. It is hoped that the next government will maintain this momentum.
