The first systematic excavation of high-grade architectural sites in Tibet during the Tubo Period

Among the archaeological achievements announced at the recent public sharing meeting of archaeological achievements in the Tibet Autonomous Region, the archaeological excavation of many sites in Wenjiang has made new discoveries. In July 2021, the joint archaeological team conducted archaeological excavation of wenjiangduo site on the Bank of Lhasa River, unearthed building materials such as tortoise shells, wordless steles and glazed bricks and tiles with Tang Dynasty style in Tubo Period, and excavated important architectural relics such as the base site of pagoda, which are about 1300 years old. This is the first time that archaeologists have systematically excavated high-grade architectural sites of the Tubo Period in Tibet. (outlook new era)
