How to make good use of "sports therapy" to curb juvenile myopia and obesity
2022-04-20
The second review draft of the revised sports law was submitted to the 34th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress for deliberation on April 18. The second review draft clearly "carry forward the Chinese sports spirit" and made provisions on youth sports, sports industry, Anti Doping and other issues. The second review of the draft added provisions: education administrative departments, sports administrative departments, schools and families should organize and guide teenagers to participate in sports activities to prevent and control teenagers' myopia, obesity and other adverse health conditions. For a long time, the utilitarian tendency of education has been serious. From family to school, they pay more attention to children's academic performance, but don't pay much attention to children's poor eyesight and physical decline. This leads to the decline of students' physique, the increase of obesity rate and the decline of vision. According to the Research Report of the World Health Organization, the number of myopia patients in China reached 600 million in 2018, and the rate of juvenile myopia ranked first in the world. In the same year, the "China compulsory education quality monitoring report" released by the Ministry of Education said that among the national myopia population, primary and secondary school students are estimated to exceed 100 million. The physical quality of students is "not as good as one generation", which is closely related to the utilitarianism of education. In recent years, the state has attached importance to students' physique, especially physical education in primary and secondary schools. It is no longer "sidelined" in school education, but incorporated into the comprehensive evaluation system of students, which makes teenagers' physique pick up. For example, as early as 2018, the Ministry of education and other relevant departments formulated the implementation plan for comprehensive prevention and control of children and adolescents' myopia, which clearly included the prevention and control of children and adolescents' myopia, the overall myopia rate and physical health status into the government performance evaluation indicators. In 2019, the Ministry of Education issued relevant opinions requiring "strengthening the examination of students' physical education courses, and those who cannot meet the qualified requirements of the national student physical health standard cannot graduate". Although the level of students' physical health has been continuously improved in recent years, there is still a large gap compared with students in western developed countries, and there are still deficiencies in enhancing teenagers' physical fitness. The second review of the revised draft of the sports law focuses on Teenagers' myopia and obesity, and makes it clear that education administrative departments, sports administrative departments, schools and families should organize and guide teenagers to participate in sports activities. The second review of the draft further clarified the responsibilities of relevant parties. In view of the health problems such as juvenile myopia and obesity, it was proposed to carry out effective sports intervention and pay attention to "sports therapy", so as to curb the health problems such as juvenile myopia and obesity. This provision added in the second review of the draft plays a very positive role in promoting the healthy development of adolescents. To improve the physical quality of students and curb the high myopia rate of students, local governments, education departments, schools and families need to compact their work responsibilities at all levels, tighten them step by step, and form the linkage and joint force of all parties. In this way, we can effectively improve the quality of students and curb the myopia rate and obesity rate of students. Rome wasn't built in a day. We still have a lot of work to do to improve the physique of teenagers and solve their health problems such as myopia and obesity. School physical education needs to make up for its shortcomings and open up enough physical education classes to meet the requirements of students in physical education development. In addition, physical education should also pay attention to the role of parents, especially during the epidemic, urge children to exercise at home and create an environment conducive to the healthy growth of children. Paying attention to students' physical problems is a problem that affects the whole body. All parties need to take action instead of shifting the responsibility to one party. By taking multiple measures and forming joint efforts of all parties, we can steadily improve the physical health of teenagers and solve the physical problems that have plagued our teenagers for many years.
