2022-04-18
At present, many families buy alcohol, disinfectant and other protective products, and even buy ultraviolet lamps to disinfect themselves. However, improper use of ultraviolet disinfection lamp and careless use of disinfectant will cause eye damage. Recently, egger eye hospital received 3 patients with eyes burned by ultraviolet lamps. At 4:30 a.m. on April 12, two truck drivers hurried to the emergency room of egger Eye Hospital, covering their red, swollen and tearful eyes, saying that their eyes were too painful to open. Dr. pan Cuifang, who was on duty that night, carefully inspected the eyes of the two truck drivers and found that the corneal epithelium of their eyes were damaged to varying degrees, with edema in both eyes and continuous tears. It turned out that the two truck drivers were on a long journey. They accidentally took a rest in the room where the ultraviolet lamp was turned on for disinfection, and their eyes were burned by ultraviolet rays. Ms. Liu turned on the ultraviolet lamp to disinfect her newly bought bag and worked around the room for more than ten minutes. Later, she felt some tingling in her eyes. At first, she thought that she had not had a good rest, so she went to wash her eyes with water. However, her eyes became more and more red, so she hurried to the hospital for treatment. Pan Cuifang said that both the two truck drivers and Ms. Liu suffered from "electro-optic ophthalmia" caused by ultraviolet light. The damage of ultraviolet rays to the eyes has a latent period. Generally, the patient does not feel uncomfortable at that time. Usually, the eye symptoms such as redness and swelling, photophobia, tears and eye pain will appear after 3 to 12 hours. She reminded the public that when using ultraviolet lamps for disinfection, people should leave the area exposed to ultraviolet rays and avoid ultraviolet disinfection in public places. Try not to look directly at the UV disinfection lamp in use, and cover your eyes with your hands. For a very short time of exposure, it will not cause too much impact. If you feel uncomfortable after being exposed to ultraviolet light, you should go to the ophthalmology department of the hospital in time. (outlook new era)
