According to the Information Office of the SAR government, after assessing the supply, demand and use of community isolation facilities, the SAR government decided to convert three hotels reserved for community isolation facilities earlier (Royal Pacific Hotel, Kowloon Hotel and Hong Kong Condes Hotel) to designated quarantine hotels to provide about 2000 additional rooms. These hotels will be put into service from April 14 and begin to accept room reservations in succession. In order to make good use of hotel rooms for quarantine purposes, from May 1, the four hotels reserved for quarantine purposes of foreign domestic helpers (courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Shatin, Hong Kong, Fuhui Ma Tau Wai Hotel, oz Hotel and Huayi hotel in Tsing Yi) will not only continue to receive foreign domestic helpers for quarantine, but also receive other Hong Kong residents returning from mainland China and Macao for quarantine, providing a total of about 1600 rooms. Foreign domestic helpers who have booked these four hotels will not be affected. Hong Kong residents returning from mainland China and Macao can book their rooms through the hotel's online reservation system from 10 a.m. on April 19. Together with the above seven hotels, from May 1, there are 45 designated quarantine hotels, providing more than 14000 rooms. The HKSAR government officially implemented the designated quarantine hotel plan on December 22, 2020, which stipulates that all persons arriving from designated areas must be subject to compulsory quarantine at the designated quarantine Hotel, so as to further strengthen the "external defense import" and reduce the contact between arrivals and local communities. From March 1 to July 31 this year, 44 designated quarantine hotels were originally designated under the designated quarantine hotel plan. In response to the fifth wave of epidemic, the SAR government earlier changed some designated quarantine hotels into community isolation facilities. A spokesman for the SAR government said that all designated quarantine hotels had submitted information on their charges to the SAR Government before participating in the plan.
