2022-03-08

The forty-ninth session of the UN Human Rights Council held a symposium on China's vulnerable groups in COVID-19 and recovery efforts on the 7 day, according to the resolution "China's win-win cooperation in the field of human rights" submitted in 2021. Li Xiaomei, the special representative of China's Ministry of foreign affairs, spoke as a guest, saying that China adheres to the supremacy of the people and the supremacy of life, and effectively answers COVID-19. At the same time, it attaches great importance to the protection of vulnerable groups' rights during the epidemic. China calls on all parties to pay equal attention to and protect all basic human rights, give full consideration to and take care of the special situation and needs of vulnerable groups, and don't let anyone fall behind; We should focus on the people, establish a full, comprehensive and sustainable social security system for the whole people, and constantly enhance people's sense of access, happiness and security; Actively respond to China's global development initiatives, accelerate the implementation of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development, promote and protect human rights in development, and effectively improve the protection of the right to development and economic, social and cultural rights of vulnerable groups; Pursue genuine multilateralism, distribute vaccines fairly around the world, and strengthen technical assistance and capacity-building. China is willing to strengthen solidarity and cooperation with all parties, share useful experience and good practice, strengthen technical cooperation and capacity-building, and protect the vulnerable groups most seriously affected by the epidemic. Mamani, Deputy Foreign Minister of Bolivia, said that the capitalist system caused serious inequalities, and COVID-19 further aggravated inequality. The epidemic has made all parties more aware of the importance of the right to health, but some monopoly enterprises still put profits above human life, making it difficult for developing countries to have equitable access to new vaccines and drugs. Bolivia appreciates the Chinese government's provision of millions of doses of vaccines and other epidemic prevention materials to Bolivia, and calls on all parties to carry out technical cooperation in vaccines and other fields. Speaking on behalf of African countries, C ô te d'Ivoire supported China's resolution on "promoting win-win cooperation in the field of human rights", welcomed the resolution's emphasis on the importance of building a community with a shared future for mankind, and called on the international community to uphold multilateralism and achieve win-win cooperation. Azerbaijan, speaking on behalf of the non aligned movement, China, Venezuela, Iran, Egypt, Argentina, Malaysia, Vietnam, Kampuchea, Sierra Leone and Burundi, welcomes the meeting of the Human Rights Council, stressing that human rights in all countries, especially developing countries, are severely affected by COVID-19, women, children, disabled persons and the elderly. The rights of vulnerable groups such as indigenous people are facing severe challenges. We call on the international community to provide technical assistance and capacity-building to developing countries to effectively protect the rights of vulnerable groups. (Xinhua News Agency)
