The UN Security Council imposed an arms embargo on the Houthi armed forces in Yemen

The UN Security Council adopted resolution 2624 on the 28th, which decided to impose an arms embargo on the armed forces of Hussein, Yemen. This is the first time that the Security Council has included husai armed forces as an entity in the scope of arms embargo sanctions. In the voting on the same day, 11 Council members voted in favour of resolution 2624 and 4 members abstained. Since 2014, the UN Security Council has imposed sanctions such as asset freeze and travel ban on individuals and entities that threaten the peace, security and stability of Yemen and hinder the political transition, and has imposed an arms embargo on individuals listed by the Yemeni sanctions committee, including Hussein armed leaders, since 2015. Resolution 2624 reaffirms the previous indefinite arms embargo and decides to extend sanctions such as the assets freeze and the travel ban for one year until 28 February 2023; Extend the mandate of the panel of experts under the Yemen Sanctions Committee for one year until March 28, 2023. In September 2014, Hussein forces seized Sana'a, the capital of Yemen, and then occupied Southern Yemen. In March 2015, Saudi Arabia led the establishment of a multinational coalition force to launch a military operation codenamed "decisive storm" against the Hussein armed forces. In December 2018, under the mediation of the United Nations, the Yemeni government and the Hussein armed forces reached an agreement on ceasefire and exchange of prisoners of war, but soon the two sides accused each other of breaking the ceasefire agreement.
