In 2005, I was admitted to Guiyang No. 3 experimental middle school as a teacher. Although thousands of miles away, the ice and snow of my hometown often appear in my dreams. My hometown Baishan is a land of ice and snow. Almost everyone can smoke ice monkeys and play "slip skating". The major I studied in the Institute of physical education has nothing to do with ice and snow, but the "ice and snow physique" brought by northeast people makes me master skiing and skating freely. It's just a pity that these skills are useless in Guiyang in the southwest. I thought I would never play snow skating in my life, but the Winter Olympics fever gave me a new starting point for my career. The call of "driving 300 million people to participate in ice and snow sports" awakened the ice and snow dream in my heart. In 2019, I found the school leader and proposed to set up an elective course of ice and snow sports. Unexpectedly, it took almost no trouble. The school quickly decided to support my proposal, which moved me very much. Before long, indoor skiing and land curling officially boarded the curriculum of Guiyang Experimental No. 3 middle school, which also became the first middle school in Guiyang to carry out ice and snow sports. Will children in the south like sports in the north? At the beginning, I was still a little nervous. I didn't expect that more than half of the students in each class signed up as soon as the notice of course selection was issued. Although there is no ice and snow in Guiyang, Guiyang baby's enthusiasm for ice and snow is no less than that of northeast baby! In the first semester, more than 300 students took the land curling course. Because there are too many applicants, we can only choose 10 students from each class by combining physical fitness test and lottery. Curling is elegant and intense. Physical and mental strength can be exercised. Children are very fascinated, but the threshold of this sport is not low and there is a lot of investment. At the beginning, the school didn't have a special training venue and used amateur slides. The children's enthusiasm for ice and snow sports infected the school leaders. In 2020, the school invested several million yuan to build a professional training hall and buy a professional slide. Conditions have improved, and children cherish opportunities more and study more seriously. Last year, Guiyang City appointed our school to form a team to participate in the land curling in the winter event of the 11th Guizhou Provincial Games. We carefully selected more than 20 students for the competition. In order not to delay their study, these students only have four or five hours of training time a week, but everyone works very hard and makes rapid progress. Although children in the South have not been nurtured since childhood, they have no worse understanding of curling than those in the north. On January 17 this year, they won the third place in the land curling project of the Provincial Games on behalf of Guiyang city. For the first time in the provincial competition, the children did not have stage fright. The judges were deeply impressed by their spirit and collective sense of honor. Team member Tang Yijie fell and hurt his elbow. Everyone advised him to rest, but he insisted on participating in the game. The students who participated in curling training generally improved their academic performance, which they didn't expect. We are now a characteristic school of Guiyang ice and snow project. An endless stream of brother schools come to visit and study. After reading it, almost all want to add ice and snow courses.
