South Korean Defense Ministry: South Korea and the United States do not consider deploying a new "THAAD" anti missile system
2022-02-09
According to Yonhap news agency, South Korean Defense Ministry spokesman Fu shengcan said at a regular press conference on the 7th that South Korea and the United States do not plan or consider deploying a new "thad" anti missile system. Fu shengcan said that at present, the Korean army is independently developing a long-range surface to air missile (l-sam) system to improve its interception capability. The Ministry of defense and the Joint Staff Headquarters are entrusting civilian research institutions to carry out a number of studies to improve the Korean missile defense system. At the same time, Fu shengcan said that the so-called report that "the Ministry of defense has reached a conclusion on whether to deploy a new THAAD" is not true. According to the previous introduction, the South Korean Ministry of defense has repeatedly transported equipment and materials into the "Sade" base in Xingzhou in 2021, and dispatched police to maintain order. At one time, there was strong resistance from members of anti Sade groups, and many people were injured and sent to hospital due to forced evacuation by the police. (Xinhua News Agency)
