Yerevan news: the presidential palace of Armenia issued a statement on the 23rd, saying that President Almen sarki announced his resignation for quite a day. Sarkisian said in a statement that after long-term consideration, he decided to resign as president after about four years. Sarkisian said that since taking office as president, he has actively improved the country's international influence and promoted the country's economic development through his own work. However, as the head of state, the president has no actual power, and there is a contradiction between the two. When the country is in difficult times, the president does not have the necessary tools to influence the formulation process of domestic and foreign policies. Sarkisian called for constitutional reform so that the next president can work in a more balanced environment. He said that the proposals do not seek to change the national regime, but hope to establish a national system of checks and balances. Born in 1953, Sargsyan served as Prime Minister of the Armenian government from 1996 to 1997 and became president of Armenia in April 2018 for a term of seven years. In December 2015, Armenia amended its constitution to change the state form of government from a semi presidential Republic to a parliamentary system. According to the new constitution, the prime minister holds the administrative power of the state, and the president is the head of state and becomes a ceremonial post. (outlook new era)
