Last June, she came to Meizhou Island to start a business and opened a burning bar at lianchi'ao beach. She soon became a Mazu volunteer and often participated in voluntary activities. Last September, she mobilized the store staff to send 888 public welfare lunches to the front-line anti epidemic staff. In October last year, during the series of commemorative activities for the 1034th anniversary of Mazu's emergence into heaven, she distributed 3000 cold drinks free of charge to the personnel participating in Mazu's golden body patrol. In November 2014, with Mazu culture as the link, Meizhou Island established a "one family on both sides of the Strait" Mazu volunteer service team based on learning from Lei Feng volunteer service organization to encourage Taiwan compatriots to participate in volunteer services and promote the integration of volunteer services on both sides of the Strait. The service team shall learn from the experience of voluntary service in Taiwan, establish and improve the management and cultivation mechanism of voluntary service organizations in combination with the actual and cultural characteristics of Meizhou Island, and promote the sustainable development of voluntary service. Up to now, the Mazu volunteer service team has 515 registered volunteers, including more than 50 Taiwan compatriots. At present, the Mazu volunteer service team has set up 12 volunteer teams, including propaganda, education, culture, rural style, ancestral temple and stationed on the island, and set up three volunteer service stations. Organize and guide volunteers to participate in voluntary actions such as creating a national civilized city, serving large-scale festival activities, Rural Revitalization and ecological protection, and carry out activities such as sending warmth, culture, health, peace and health, so as to form a regional cross-strait love alliance circle and create an identifiable brand image of spiritual civilization of Meizhou Island. Tu Jinzhi, over 80, is a traditional Chinese medicine orthopedic doctor from Chiayi County, Taiwan. At the same time, he is also a Mazu volunteer. Since 2015, he has often come to Meizhou Island to worship Mazu and become a volunteer to provide free medical treatment for the elderly and villagers on the island. He has treated waist and leg pain, arthritis, gout and other diseases for free. So far, he has received more than 4000 patients. In 2020, he was rated as a five-star volunteer in Fujian Province. Volunteer clinics across the Taiwan Strait, CO planting cross-strait volunteer forests, anti epidemic fund-raising, summer cooling... The characteristic volunteer service projects created by Mazu volunteer service team have become an excellent model for the in-depth integration of volunteers on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. Recently, the "one family on both sides of the Strait" Mazu volunteer service project on Meizhou Island won the silver medal in the 2021 Fujian volunteer service project competition. At the beginning of last year, the project was also selected into the list of "four 100" advanced models of the country's best volunteer service project, which is the only project on the list in Putian City.
