The launching ceremony of the restoration project of Bingyu pagoda assisted by the Chinese government in Bagan, Myanmar, was held in bagan on the 8th. Chen Hai, Chinese ambassador to Myanmar, said at the launching ceremony that his Bingyu pagoda is the highest Buddhist building in bagan and one of the most famous pagodas in Myanmar. After many discussions, the State Administration of cultural relics of China and the Ministry of religion and culture of Myanmar jointly determined that the Chinese side should repair the tabingyu pagoda damaged by the earthquake, which should be undertaken by the technical teams of Shaanxi Province and Yunnan Province of China. Chen Hai said that the Chinese team will fully carry out the overall restoration of his Bingyu Pagoda with Myanmar in accordance with the requirements of UNESCO for the protection of world cultural heritage, and jointly safeguard this common cultural heritage of mankind. Tun Weng, Vice Minister of religion and culture of Myanmar, said that Myanmar China cooperation in the restoration of pagodas has brought the "cell wave" friendship between the two countries closer. Cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries are crucial to the protection of cultural heritage. Bilateral cooperation in this field will promote the friendship between the two countries. On August 24, 2016, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 occurred in central Myanmar, causing damage to hundreds of pagodas and statues, including TA Bingyu pagoda. During the first "one belt, one road" International Cooperation summit held in Beijing in May 2017, China and Myanmar signed the memorandum of understanding on the cooperation in the restoration and protection of Bagan's historic sites in Burma. In September 2018, China and Myanmar signed an agreement on assistance in repairing his Bingyu Pagoda in bagan. Since May 2019, China has successively completed the evaluation of the main structure of his Bingyu pagoda, the emergency reinforcement project of the pagoda, the deepening design of the overall repair scheme, etc. (outlook new era)
