Israeli air strikes on ports in Northwest Syria
2021-12-29
According to Syrian official media reports, Israel's air raid on the port of Latakia in Northwest Syria on the 28th led to a fire in the container yard in the port, causing heavy property losses. The Syrian news agency quoted Syrian military sources as saying that at 3:21 local time, the Israeli army launched an air attack on a commercial port in the west of the Syrian coastal city of Latakia. Multiple missiles launched over the Mediterranean attacked the port and hit the container yard, causing a fire and causing heavy property losses. A hospital and some shops near the port were also damaged in the attack. Muhannad Jaafar, commander of Latakia fire brigade, told Syrian news agency that with the assistance of local civil defense and other departments, firefighters had controlled the fire and the containers attacked were filled with oil and auto parts. This is the second Israeli attack on the port this month. On December 7, Israel launched an air raid on Latakia port, causing several containers to catch fire. After the outbreak of the Syrian civil war, the Israeli army has repeatedly attacked targets in Syria on the grounds of attacking Iranian military facilities. Both the Syrian and Iranian governments deny that Iran has troops in Syria. (outlook new era)
