For Xiao Yixin, a sixth grade girl from Baiguoshu primary school in Bajiao Dong Township, Enshi City, Hubei Province, the "magic cloud classroom" is like a rainbow, adding colorful colors to her life. Xiao Yixin's parents work outside all year round. She lives with her grandparents. Last fall semester, she would walk into the "magic classroom" with her classmates every Thursday, and follow the volunteer teacher on the screen to understand gourd silk, understand simplified music and practice scales. When she came home from school and was lonely, she sat high and blew gourd silk. At the end of the semester, she learned to play "pastoral nursery rhyme" and "Serenade". When shown to teachers and students, she plays skillfully, confidently and generously. Art class, calligraphy class, information class, science class, physiological health class... Since December 2009, Wuhan University's "magic classroom in the mountains" Public Welfare Association has built 47 "magic classrooms" and recruited 5837 volunteers, covering more than 11000 rural primary school students in Hubei, Sichuan, Jilin, Yunnan and Chongqing. Build a "dream classroom" for mountain village children "If you come here for a year, you must do something for the children in the mountains." This is the most simple idea after Zhao Shuying, leader of Enshi project team of "college student volunteer service western program" of Wuhan University, arrived at the station in September 2009. When she and three students visited the local rural primary school, they found that the school playground was clean and tidy, with beautiful teaching buildings, multimedia classrooms and distance education system, and the development of school infrastructure exceeded their imagination. The "Hope Project" has been implemented locally for 20 years, and the hardware conditions of rural primary schools have been greatly improved. What else do they lack? Careful college students found that when it comes to painting, some children can only draw a big watermelon, saying that their parents work outside and can buy watermelon "taste fresh" when they come back; When it comes to the dream after graduation, the answer of most children is "go out to work". Holding the children's paintings, everyone has an unspeakable taste in their hearts. For children who are in primary school, this should be an age with unlimited vision for their dreams. This group of college students launched a brainstorming to build a "magic classroom" for children in the school, integrating recreational and sports activities and extracurricular reading, and recruited college student volunteers for interactive teaching, involving music, art, sports and psychological companionship. They believe that "art can let a child touch the most authentic and beautiful side of human nature when he first receives education. We should help children cultivate hobbies and dare to dream." This idea was supported by the Youth League Committee of Wuhan University. The first batch of volunteer teams were recruited and established in the University, named "dream flowers". The "magic classroom" consists of three parts: network multimedia facilities, audio-visual art education equipment and cultural book resources. Each room is planned to invest more than 35000 yuan. Volunteers first face the financial challenge. "We have walked into the offices of mayors and directors to consult policies, and knocked on the door of entrepreneurs to borrow money." For the first time, Zhao Shuying and volunteers raised money everywhere, but there was no result. Some people even don't understand that "music and art education in remote mountainous areas is just a luxury dream. You should be 'realistic'. In October of that year, a news of the event brightened the team members' eyes: the first Lenovo youth public welfare entrepreneurship competition was about to be held, "each of the top ten projects in China can get 100000 yuan sponsorship". The team immediately began to make preparations and registered for the competition with the project of "magic classroom in the mountains". After layer by layer competition, it stood out from more than 10000 public welfare projects across the country and won the first prize of the competition in one fell swoop. Volunteers also designed a "Cherry Postcard" to organize a charity sale at the Cherry Blossom Festival of Wuhan University. A stationery entrepreneur in Enshi was so moved that he took the initiative to donate a batch of stationery and more than 10000 yuan in cash. "These college students have to do such a big thing and bring 100000 yuan of start-up capital. I really admire them." The staff of Enshi Municipal Party committee office also helped coordinate with various parties to match 100000 yuan for the project; At the same time, contact the Municipal Education Bureau to coordinate the person in charge of audio-visual education equipment station and volunteers to build a "magic classroom". After nearly two months of efforts, the first "magic classroom" was launched in cheba primary school, Tunbao Township, Enshi City in December 2009. In the following two years, the "magic classroom" gradually entered seven rural primary schools under the jurisdiction of Enshi City. In order to make good use of every penny, volunteers often compare more than 10 stores when purchasing materials. Yin Xue, then director of the project Department of "magic classroom", remembers that once, a landlady of a hardware store directly exempted the cost of some small items. "I heard about you at the parents' meeting. You came to teach the dolls for free and can't charge you." Volunteers designed and developed three sets of decorative templates for the "magic classroom", namely "heart of the sea", "colorful cloud room" and "magic flowers". Warm colored walls, a whole wall of mirrors, pianos, computers, projectors, painting books, wishing bottles filled with all children's dreams... It is well-equipped, beautiful and warm, and has become the "most desired place" for children. 12 years relay to build "magic classroom" At the beginning of the operation of the "magic classroom", team members recruited local college student volunteers by contacting local universities such as Hubei University for Nationalities and Enshi vocational and technical college, and arranged them to attend classes for the children every week. Under the guidance of professors of pedagogy and Sinology of Wuhan University, the "dream flower" team has developed three theme courses of science, humanities and physiological health, which not only covers history and culture, astronomy and geography and local customs around the world, but also pays attention to cultivating children's skills and talents, such as painting, singing, abacus, etc. At the same time, the team invited experts from Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an and other places to bring growth inspirational courses and psychological training courses. At Wuhan University, Professor Zhu Junyong's "sex and health" is a popular course. At the invitation of the "dream flowers" team, Zhu Junyong led volunteers to customize physical health courses according to the age of children in several primary schools, introduce human body structure, help establish gender awareness and increase self-protection and mental health knowledge. In the Central Primary School of Sancha Township, Enshi City, volunteer Liu Yu accidentally found the painting talent of student Li Xiaoqian, so he encouraged her to cultivate her into a specialty. Li Xiaoqian used to draw in her spare time. After teaching, Liu Yu often received works from Xiaoqian. Starting from Enshi, with the steady operation of the "magic classroom", the "dream flower" team spread it to Xiaogan, Shiyan, Xianning and other places in Hubei Province, as well as Sichuan, Jilin and other provinces. At the Qingshui Village Activity Center in quelling Township, Jianyang City, Sichuan Province, Peng ye, an English major of Wuhan University, helped the children establish a phonetic system and taught them to spell words. With his encouragement, the pony, the most mischievous repetition student on weekdays, won the first place in the small test of phonetic class. In another rural primary school, volunteers met a child with autism. He usually doesn't like to talk, so everyone often plays basketball with him. In biology class, the volunteers took the children to know the "enzyme" with an easy-to-understand metaphor. When asking questions, they suddenly found that the student's hand was raised. Although he hesitated, the answer was very good, and the whole class burst into warm applause. This group of college students also opened a summer study tour camp, took the children to the Yellow Crane Tower, visited the Hubei Provincial Museum, visited the campus of Wuhan University, talked with professors of Wuhan University and communicated with students of primary schools affiliated to Wuhan University... Over the years, 202 poor rural students have studied in Wuhan. Some children agreed with Professor Wu University: "I will come to Wuhan University in the future. Please be my mentor." Li Ran, a 2018 undergraduate in the Law School of Wuhan University, has been helped by many kind people since childhood. He hopes to give back and pass love. As a freshman, he joined the Public Welfare Association of "magic classroom in the mountains". When taking the children on a study tour at the Hubei Provincial Museum, Li Ran heard that some students liked history. He gave him a Youth Edition of Zizhi Tongjian to encourage him to "keep up with historians". Let the light of dreams shine into the depths of the mountains This year's "double 11", Chen Yongxu, a junior in the school of information management of Wuhan University, taught the "magic classroom" mental health course - "I am a different landscape" to the students of Hedian Village Primary School in Dawu County, Xiaogan City, more than 100 kilometers away. Chen Yongxu teaches children not to be limited by their own shortcomings, to understand their own highlights, and to maximize their own advantages by adjusting their mentality. This is the sixth week of the "magic cloud classroom" of the "magic classroom" of Hedian village primary school. As college student volunteers could not match the teaching needs of primary schools in time, the "magic cloud classroom" was born in 2016. The team widely recruited volunteers in Colleges and universities in Wuhan, organized them for training and trial lectures, and gave remote lectures through video. The team communicated with the cooperative primary school with "magic classroom", determined the timetable of the whole semester, installed equipment in time, and mailed teaching materials in advance. The children go to the "magic classroom" according to the timetable, and the local teachers help debug the equipment and manage the classroom discipline. In order to let volunteers and children get familiar with each other in advance, the "magic cloud classroom" sets up an ice breaking link before class; Make a dynamic seating table and tutor each student one-on-one online; Interact more after class to enhance interest and sense of connection; The team records everyone's learning results, "don't let a child fall behind". Across the screen, Chen Yongxu also felt that the children in the mountains from the initial shyness to everyone's enthusiasm to speak, "more and more sunshine". By watching the "cloud classroom" in the "magic classroom", the professionalism of volunteers and the growth of children were seen by Wang Li, the principal of Baiguoshu primary school. "These college students are admirable. Once there are defects in the curriculum, they should be adjusted immediately and strive to improve." "I hope you can come back next time. I'm about to graduate. I hope you can remember me." At the end of the semester, a student of Baiguoshu primary school wrote a note and stuffed it to Lu Zeyu, a volunteer and graduate student of Wuhan University. This note was treasured by Lu Zeyu in his photo album. So far, 10 primary schools in the project team have opened "magic cloud classroom". At present, the "dream flower" team is committed to carefully polishing the teaching plan and recording high-quality courses suitable for primary school students to benefit more rural primary school students. Over the past 12 years, this public welfare dream has attracted nearly 100 new members every year. Outgoing volunteers continue to care about the "magic classroom" and children, or strive for materials, or seek cooperation and advice. From the public welfare feelings of being engaged in the "magic classroom" during the University, Zhao Shuying chose to join a public welfare foundation after graduating from his master's degree in 2012. In the meantime, she has been engaged in the work related to the protection of minors and the growth of teenagers, giving play to the power of science and technology for the good, and solving social problems through public welfare. When working in Yunnan, she met a girl whose family was very poor and once faced dropping out of school. Zhao Shuying funded her to go to high school until she graduated from college. At the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the "magic classroom", Zhao Shuying said: "the children have brought me far more than I have brought to the children. They have made me grow up, found more valuable things and gained a sense of happiness." (outlook new era)
