Ma Xingrui, deputy secretary of Guangdong provincial Party committee and governor, said in his speech that building an international scientific and technological innovation center with global influence is one of the five strategic positioning of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay area. In recent years, with the joint efforts of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, the construction of Dawan District International Science and technology innovation center has achieved remarkable results, and the gathering of international top innovation resources has accelerated. At present, it has a number of influential scientific research institutions, laboratories and national large department projects, bringing together nearly 200 academicians and Nobel laureates at home and abroad, showing strong innovation vitality. Ma Xingrui said that driven by the construction of the Great Bay area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, Guangdong has deeply implemented the innovation driven development strategy and accelerated the construction of an innovation strong province. The comprehensive capacity of regional innovation has ranked first in China for five consecutive years since 2017. He introduced the achievements of Guangdong's scientific and technological development, saying that Guangdong, led by the construction of a comprehensive national science center, has vigorously promoted the construction of innovation platforms such as the National Laboratory, the national technological innovation center, the provincial laboratory and the high-level innovation research institute, and preliminarily realized the systematic layout of a number of major scientific infrastructure facilities such as spallation neutron source, neutrino experimental station and the National Supercomputing Center. Moreover, Guangdong also ranks first in the country in terms of patent authorization business areas and international patent applications in many cutting-edge fields. Ma Xingrui revealed that in 2020, the number of national high-tech enterprises in the province exceeded 53000, the R & D investment of the whole society exceeded 340 billion yuan (RMB), and the R & D investment intensity reached 3.14%. For the future, Ma Xingrui revealed that Guangdong will firmly seize the opportunity of a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, adhere to the core position of innovation in the overall situation of modernization, strive to build a global highland of scientific and technological innovation and promote the development of emerging industries.
