The Ministry of housing and urban rural development and the State Administration of cultural relics organize third-party institutions to carry out full coverage investigation and evaluation of all famous cities every five years. The Ministry of housing and urban rural development, the State Administration of cultural relics, relevant provincial housing and urban rural construction (protection of famous cities) departments and cultural relics departments shall timely organize and carry out key assessments on the protection of famous cities in specific regions and watersheds, the protection of historical and cultural resources in famous cities in specific periods, or the protection and management of famous cities with frequent problems. For famous cities with prominent problems found in special evaluation or public reports, the Ministry of housing and urban rural development will interview the local people's Government where the famous city is located with the State Administration of cultural relics. For famous cities with serious problems, the Ministry of housing and urban rural development will, on the basis of necessary review and demonstration with the State Administration of cultural relics, deal with them according to the specified requirements and procedures in accordance with relevant laws, regulations and departmental rules and in accordance with the treatment standard for inadequate protection of national famous historical and cultural cities (Trial).
