Zhong Hanlin was sentenced to 40 months' imprisonment for the crime of splitting the country and 18 months' imprisonment for the crime of money laundering. Some of the sentences were executed at the same time, with a total of 43 months' imprisonment. Zhong Hanlin was charged with a crime of splitting the country from July to October 2020 and a crime of money laundering from January 2018 to October 2020. The judge said that the defendant had no actual plan to split the country, but the purpose was very obvious. After the implementation of the national security law of Hong Kong, the defendant also tried to defy the law by recruiting volunteers and raising funds in social media, which is an active organization, planning and implementation of secession.
