After several rounds of consultations, the two sides have recently reached three consensus based on the principles of mutual respect, reciprocity and reciprocity: First, both sides ensure that current resident journalists working in the other country can normally enter and leave the other country on the premise of strictly abiding by epidemic prevention policies and consular regulations. Second, both sides agreed to issue multiple entry visas for journalists from the other country for one year. The US side promised to immediately start domestic procedures to solve the problem of visa stay period of Chinese journalists, while the Chinese side promised to give equal treatment to American media journalists in China after US policies and measures were in place. Third, the two sides will examine and approve visas for new resident journalists who meet the application requirements according to law and regulations. Zhao Lijian said that this achievement was hard won, in line with the media interests of both sides and worth cherishing. It is hoped that the US side will abide by its commitments, implement relevant measures and policies as soon as possible, and work together with China to create favorable conditions for the media of the two countries to continue to work and live in each other's countries.
