In response to the proposal No. 3839 of the fourth session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference on "further implementing the prevention and treatment measures for adolescent depression", the Ministry of Education recently replied publicly that it would include depression screening in students' physical examination, establish students' mental health files, evaluate students' mental health status, and pay special attention to students with abnormal evaluation results. In its reply, the Ministry of education made it clear that education on the prevention of depression among adolescents is an important work to implement quality education, promote the all-round development of adolescents and ensure their physical and mental health. The Ministry of education will promote the prevention and treatment of adolescent depression through multiple channels, strengthen the deployment of depression prevention and treatment, carry out various forms of youth depression prevention education, and establish a whole process youth depression prevention and treatment service and evaluation system. By the end of 2022, we will basically build a social environment conducive to the mental health of children and adolescents, form a linked mental health service model of schools, communities, families, media and medical and health institutions, and implement preventive and intervention measures for children and adolescents' psychological and behavioral problems and mental disorders. Schools at all levels and types shall establish psychological service platforms or rely on school doctors and other personnel to carry out students' mental health services. Preschool education and special education institutions shall be equipped with full-time and part-time mental health education teachers. 50% of parents' schools or family education guidance service stations carry out mental health education. 60% of psychiatric hospitals above level II set up children and adolescents' psychological clinics, and 30% of children's specialized hospitals, maternal and child health centers and general hospitals above level II set up psychiatric (psychological) clinics. All localities and cities set up or access psychological assistance hotlines. The awareness rate of children's and adolescents' core knowledge of mental health reached 80%. In addition to incorporating depression screening into students' physical examination, the Ministry of education and the National Health Commission also proposed to establish a whole process youth depression prevention and treatment service and evaluation system. Medical and health institutions at all levels should standardize and continue to carry out training on depression prevention and control; Increase the training of doctors in non psychiatric hospitals to improve their ability to identify depression; Various physical examination centers include emotional state assessment in physical examination items for physical examination personnel to choose; Grass roots medical and health institutions should carry out mental health assessment of key populations in combination with their actual work; Psychiatric hospitals should organize depression screening in combination with various theme days and traditional festival publicity activities. In addition, high schools and colleges and universities should set up psychological counseling (consultation) rooms and mental health education courses, and be equipped with mental health education teachers.
