Adolescent depression should be paid attention to but not exaggerated
2021-11-03
According to media reports, recently, a nine-year survey found that major depressive disorder accounted for 2.0% of adolescents, together with another research result with a detection rate of 24.6% of adolescents' depression, has attracted the attention of the whole society to adolescents' depression and aroused people's doubts about the reliability of the data. The data with great differences may be affected by different sampling methods, age distribution, measurement tools and screening time. It is also related to the unstable emotional development of adolescents. It also exposes the imperfection of the screening and diagnosis system of adolescent depression. Some data are exaggerated in the media, resulting in social anxiety. Adolescent depression really deserves the attention of the whole society, but it should not be exaggerated. Adolescent groups are experiencing rapid changes in physiology, psychology, emotion and cognition. The medical community has not yet scientifically and accurately explained the pathogenesis of adolescent depression, and the measurement methods mostly rely on foreign psychological measurement scales. At present, most scholars believe that adolescent depression is the result of the joint action of physiological factors, psychological factors and social factors. It will also be greatly affected by family environment, school education and social support, which are exactly the contents ignored by the Chinese adolescent rearing model. Family is the first cradle of teenagers' growth. A warm and harmonious family environment and good parent-child relationship will contribute to children's physical and mental health. For a long time, parents are used to regard academic performance as the main goal of family education, take criticism and discipline as the main means of family education, ignore their children's psychological tolerance, or fall into the trap of over protection and doting, resulting in children's confusion in the face of complex living environment and learning difficulties, resulting in psychological problems such as worry, anxiety and depression. With the increasing number of disabled families, family disharmony factors have a negative impact on children's psychology. Parents' life pressure is transformed into children's psychological pressure, which is easy to induce serious psychological problems. In addition, learning burden and competition for further education are the main sources of psychological pressure of school-age adolescents. When they encounter setbacks in their studies and are criticized and punished, teenagers will have negative self-evaluation, reduce their sense of self-efficacy, lose their self-confidence, and then have cognitive dysfunction, unable to get out of self blame and guilt, resulting in depression. It can be seen that there are many factors causing teenagers' psychological dilemma, including social mechanism and system factors at the macro level, family environment and personal personality factors at the micro level. To solve the problem, we can not only rely on the data released by the western social psychology scale, but need to use professional knowledge to carry out interdisciplinary comprehensive research and devote ourselves to analyzing the pathogenesis of teenagers' depression, Recognize the social mechanism behind adolescent depression, develop measurement tools and screening methods in line with China's national conditions, and promote the formation of scientific statistical standards and authoritative data release system. To solve adolescent depression, prevention is the most important. Teenagers have not yet formed the concept of autonomy, lack the ability of self judgment, have strong psychological dependence, tend to respond negatively in the face of difficulties, pressure, failure and injury, and urgently need the support of external forces. We need to follow the law of teenagers' growth and development and socialization process, and form multi-party cooperation among families, schools, communities and governments to jointly solve the problem of teenagers' depression. Parents should increase parent-child communication with their children and create a warm family environment; Schools and teachers should not blindly pursue higher education and scores. They should increase the school psychological curriculum, reduce campus bullying and create a friendly peer group environment. For adolescents with psychological difficulties, the community should actively carry out accurate mental health counseling and services, and provide necessary community assistance to adolescents from disabled families; The government should purify the social environment for the growth of teenagers, strengthen the construction of social psychological service system, and promote the publicity and education of mental health knowledge among the whole people. Only by doing well in family prevention, school prevention, community prevention and social prevention of adolescent depression can we cultivate the next generation with self-esteem, self-confidence, rationality, peace and positive progress.
