More than 4.47 million voters will vote in Hong Kong's 2021 Legislative Council general election on December 19, a spokesman for the registration and Electoral Office of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government said on the 27th. The spokesman said that the improvement of the electoral system (comprehensive amendment) Ordinance 2021 was gazetted and came into force on May 31. The boundaries of geographical constituencies for the 2021 Legislative Council general election were also implemented on the same day. Hong Kong is divided into 10 geographical constituencies. The registration and Electoral Office has reassigned the geographical constituencies to which voters belong according to their registered address. The spokesman said that in 2021, the final register for geographical constituencies and the functional constituencies will have a net increase of about 5500 voters and 300 voters respectively compared with the provisional register. In the general election of the Legislative Council of the HKSAR, 20 members are elected from geographical constituencies, 30 members from functional constituencies and 40 members from the election committee constituency, a total of 90 members are elected.
