Chinese Embassy in the United States: it is "in vain" for the United States to support and cheer up the "Taiwan independence" forces in the world

2021-10-27

A spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in the United States pointed out on the 26th that the United States attempted to create "one China, one Taiwan" or "two Chinas" in the United Nations 50 years ago, but suffered a disastrous defeat. Today, the United States openly supports and cheers up the "Taiwan independence" forces in the international community and attempts to challenge international law and the basic norms of international relations, including the one China principle. This is in vain and will never succeed. The spokesman said that the United States has recently intensified its efforts, constantly using various occasions to hype the Taiwan issue, help Taiwan expand the so-called "international space" and openly challenge the one China principle. China expresses strong dissatisfaction with this and will never accept it. It has repeatedly stated its solemn position and made solemn representations to the United States. The spokesman said that it must be pointed out that the one China principle and the three Sino US joint communiques are the political basis of Sino US relations. The so-called "Taiwan Relations Act" and "six guarantees to Taiwan" unilaterally concocted by the United States have been resolutely opposed and will never be accepted by China from the beginning. The US statement that the so-called "Taiwan Relations Act" is placed before the three Sino US joint communiques is even more absurd. We urge the US side to recognize the reality, abide by its commitments, adhere to the one China principle and the provisions of the three Sino US joint communiques, abide by General Assembly Resolution 2758, immediately stop official exchanges with Taiwan, stop making irresponsible and wrong statements, and take practical actions to safeguard the overall situation of China US relations and peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. The spokesman stressed that the one China principle is a general consensus of the international community and a recognized basic norm in international relations. It cannot be challenged or misinterpreted unilaterally by the United States. There is only one China in the world, the government of the people's Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing the whole of China, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory. Including the United States, 180 countries around the world have established diplomatic relations with China on the basis of adhering to the one China principle. Taiwan's participation in the activities of the United Nations and other international organizations must be handled in accordance with the one China principle. General Assembly Resolution 2758 has completely resolved the issue of the representation of the people's Republic of China in the United Nations politically, legally and procedurally. The United Nations system, specialized agencies and the United Nations Secretariat should abide by the one China principle and General Assembly Resolution 2758 in any affairs involving Taiwan. The spokesman said that it must be pointed out that the United Nations is an intergovernmental international organization that only sovereign states can join. Taiwan related issues are serious political issues, not so-called values. The US side used this as an excuse to say for Taiwan that the item was a change of concept and confused the public. The spokesman pointed out that the Taiwan authorities stubbornly adhere to the separatist position of "Taiwan independence", refuse to recognize the "1992 consensus", rely on the support and encouragement of the US Masters, strive to expand the so-called "international space" and go further and further on the road of "Taiwan independence" separatism. This is the biggest real threat to peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and the crux of Taiwan's repeated difficulties in participating in the activities of multilateral institutions such as the International Civil Aviation Organization and the World Health Organization in recent years. In fact, Taiwan's access to ICAO information is unimpeded, and navigation with many cities in the world is convenient. On the premise of conforming to the one China principle, medical and health experts in Taiwan can participate in relevant technical meetings of the World Health Organization. Access to novel coronavirus pneumonia, including the new crown pneumonia epidemic in Taiwan, is smooth. It is well known that the United States takes the International Civil Aviation Organization and the World Health Organization as an example. (outlook new era)
