May 12th is International Nurses' Day. In recent years, China's nursing team has been continuously developing and growing, with the number of registered nurses increasing at an average annual rate of about 8%, and the level of nursing professional services steadily improving. During the 14th Five Year Plan period, the National Health Commission adhered to putting people's health at the center, and further promoted nursing work closer to patients, clinical practice, and society by strengthening the construction of the nursing team, continuously optimizing nursing services, enhancing nursing work in medical institutions, and implementing action plans to improve nursing services. At present, medical institutions provide continuity of care services in over 85% of wards, aiming to address the issues of routine and specialized care for patients after discharge. In recent years, the connotation and extension of China's nursing industry have been continuously enriched. By implementing the elderly care improvement action, expanding the coverage of "Internet plus care services", promoting the development of elderly home care services, etc., nursing services will be extended from the hospital to the outside, providing elderly care, chronic disease management, rehabilitation guidance, hospice care and other services for the masses. At present, more than 4000 medical institutions in various regions provide more than 60 home care services in 7 categories for the public. At the same time, positive results have been achieved in implementing the National Nursing Development Plan (2021-2025) in various regions. Shanghai has taken effective measures to reduce the burden on frontline clinical nurses, requiring medical institutions to simplify nursing document writing, setting up venous configuration centers in secondary and above medical institutions, and gradually achieving full coverage of data automatic collection and infusion automation monitoring systems in tertiary hospitals' bedside monitoring systems. Shandong Province focuses on the elderly to build an elderly care service system based on hospitals, focusing on geriatrics, and other institutions, to build a hierarchical and classified elderly care continuation service system based on "Internet plus care services", and to establish an out of hospital continuation service community based on counties. Hunan Province has strengthened top-level design, incorporated "Internet plus nursing service" into its own nursing quality control system, and strengthened the supervision and management of "Internet plus nursing service". 138 medical institutions have carried out relevant work to achieve full coverage of cities and prefectures. The relevant person in charge of the National Health Commission stated that they will study and formulate the "15th Five Year Plan" for the development of nursing industry, clarify the main goals and key tasks for the development of nursing industry in China during the "15th Five Year Plan" period, including continuously expanding the nursing team, continuously optimizing nursing services, promoting the pilot work of unaccompanied care services, and increasing the supply of diversified and multi-level elderly nursing services to effectively enhance the sense of gain of the masses.
