Beichuan is the only Qiang Autonomous County in China, with a population of 86000 Qiang people, accounting for one-third of the country's Qiang population. Among the "Chinese Ethnic Minority Characteristic Villages" announced by the National Ethnic Affairs Commission, Beichuan was selected for 8. In order to protect Qiang culture, Beichuan has issued the "Regulations on the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Beichuan Qiang Autonomous County", established protection institutions such as the Qiang Cultural Ecological Protection and Development Center, issued the "Reward and Support Measures for Promoting High quality Development of Cultural Tourism Industry", and set up a special fund of 20 million yuan to provide financial support for the protection of Qiang culture. In recent years, 16 key cultural relics protection units have been restored and upgraded in Beichuan, enriching the cultural activities of Qiang ethnic groups such as Banaqia and Shalangqia, and attracting tourists to experience Qiang style life. In terms of cultural exchange among the Qiang ethnic group, Beichuan has built a Qiang folk museum, formed an ethnic art troupe, established folk organizations such as the Shalang Association, compiled and published albums of ethnic cultural songs such as "Great Beautiful Qiang City", and more than 20 cultural works such as dance "Shalang Chuange" and "Valeo Zu" have won gold medals in national cultural competitions. Original song and dance dramas "Yu Qiang Tribe" and "Wind Comes from Qiang Mountains" have toured at the Berlin Art Festival and other events, and tens of thousands of people have successfully set a Guinness World Record for dancing Shalang. In terms of innovative transformation of Qiang culture, Beichuan relies on characteristic folk cultural brands such as "Dayu Sacrifice", "Qiang Year", and "Shalang Festival" to create more than 30 Qiang songs and dances, and cultivate more than 10 characteristic restaurants such as "Qiang Thirteen Flowers" and "Qiang Ten Large Bowls".
