On April 25th, the 31st China International Radio and Television Information Network Exhibition (CCBN2025), which lasted for 3 days, concluded in Beijing. The theme of this exhibition is "Better TV Listening - Technological Innovation Leading High Quality Development", focusing on new technologies, new products, new applications, new formats, new services, and new concepts, showcasing the breakthrough achievements of China's TV listening industry in the field of ultra high definition technology, and striving to promote the systematic transformation of the industry empowered by technological innovation. Cao Shumin, secretary of the Party Leadership Group and director of the State Administration of Radio and Television, said in his opening speech: "Ultra HD is a major trend in the development of global video technology, which is of great significance to radio and television listening and even the upgrading of the entire Internet content." At the same time, the State Administration of Radio and Television is working with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Central Radio and Television Station and local governments to accelerate the end-to-end connection of ultra HD technology in collaboration with the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain, clearly defining 2025 as the "Year of Ultra HD Development". In 1925, the first television set was introduced, ushering in an era where humans could see the world through a single electronic screen. From black and white televisions to color televisions, from "standard definition" to "high definition", from old-fashioned CRT televisions to new ultra-thin LCD large screen televisions, the development of television has spanned a century. Although China's radio and television development started relatively late, it has caught up with the world trend at a unique speed and path, completing the transformation from a "follower" to a "parallel player", and then to a "transcendent". From analog to digital, from one-way transmission to interactive experience, every advancement in broadcasting and television technology embodies humanity's exploration and application of new technologies, as well as the relentless pursuit of optimizing information transmission efficiency and quality. Liu Jianguo, Deputy Director of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, said, "The invention, development, and evolution of television is actually a process of human continuous integration of the most advanced technology and pursuit of higher efficiency and quality in information transmission. The ultimate restoration of the real world and the provision of a realistic experience like being on site have always been the unremitting goals of human pursuit." The Chinese broadcasting and television industry is achieving iterative development from "seeing clearly," to "seeing accurately," and then to "seeing truly. Chang Jian, Deputy Director and First level Inspector of the Science and Technology Department of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, introduced that "Ultra high definition not only improves resolution, but also has technical characteristics such as high frame rate, high dynamic range, wide color gamut, and high quantization accuracy. It can comprehensively enhance the delicacy of the image from five dimensions: pixel count, dynamic smoothness, brightness and darkness levels, color richness, and smoothness of color and brightness, enriching the visual experience. Ultra high resolution can more finely depict the details of textures, patterns, and scenes, enhancing visual immersion. High frame rates can capture complex movements and showcase more dynamic visual effects. High dynamic range can enhance light and shadow portrayal and atmosphere rendering, making the work more visually impactful. Wide color gamut can provide more diverse means of color expression, realistically and vividly reproducing the colors of nature. High quantization accuracy can present color brightness and color quantity more finely, enhancing the overall quality of the work. It can be said that ultra high definition technology will bring a qualitative leap in subjective experience to audiovisual works, effectively enhance user viewing experience, and empower high-quality creation. In terms of content production, the platform's two-way efforts to meet the viewing needs of the audience have basically achieved ultra high definition for newly produced TV dramas and documentaries nationwide this year, stimulating more content innovation and experience leaps with ultra high definition aesthetics. In terms of broadcasting, China Central Radio and Television Station, as well as the main channels and new media clients of ultra high definition satellite TV in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, and six other provinces and cities including Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Hunan, Sichuan, and Shenzhen, have successively started broadcasting. The ultra high definition channel of Beijing Satellite TV was officially launched on April 22; Mango TV, iQiyi, Youku, Tencent, Bilibili, and Migu, the six leading online audiovisual platforms, will add over 40% of their ultra high definition programs. Both mobile and television platforms have opened ultra high definition zones; Cable TV and IPTV will launch ultra high definition channel replay function and ultra high definition on-demand zone. Zhang Su, member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of Beijing Radio and Television Bureau, introduced that the upgrade of 4K ultra high definition is not just a unilateral technological innovation, but a systematic change from content creation to transmission and broadcasting. We are synchronously launching program content upgrades to tell richer stories from an ultra high definition perspective. ”It is reported that Beijing TV's 4K channel has recently launched, covering nearly 300 million households nationwide through cable TV and IPTV, and providing direct access to mobile TV through new media clients. Netizens have commented that even the texture of cultural relics can be revealed in every detail. Since the beginning of this year, the TV theoretical program "Wenyao Zhonghua" has been filmed in ultra-high definition, and through the multimodal presentation of "studio interviews+AI short films+animations", it has endowed the main melody program with a technological quality; The documentary "Chinese Official Admonitions (Season 2)" is produced using ultra-high definition full process technology, giving new vitality to existing ancient books, artifacts, sites, and intangible cultural heritage. Jiang Wenbo, a member of the editorial conference of China Central Radio and Television Station, introduced: "The dissemination of ultra high definition content requires full chain collaboration. We have built an IP based and lightweight production and broadcasting system, which reduces the production cost of 8K programs by more than 60% compared to traditional models. ”Taking Migu Video as an example, its independently developed 5G+8K broadcasting vehicle has been applied to live broadcasts of events such as the Chinese Super League and the English Premier League. Lin Xiaoqing, Technical Director of Migu Video Technology Co., Ltd., said: "Through AI star tracking and real-time data visualization, viewers can not only see the micro expressions of athletes, but also obtain in-depth information such as running distance and shooting angle with just one click, making the viewing shift from 'watching the excitement' to 'watching the tricks'. ”The popularization of ultra high definition technology requires not only breakthroughs in front-end shooting technology, but also full chain adaptation of broadcasting platforms. Currently, mainstream media and online audiovisual platforms in China are driving the production and distribution of 4K and 8K ultra high definition content with a dual wheel approach of "content+technology", achieving a two-way promotion of platform content and meeting the high-quality viewing needs of audiences. Technological empowerment promotes industrial upgrading and achieves high-quality development in the audiovisual industry. Currently, the long industrial chain and multiple links still pose challenges to the ultra high definition industry. There are problems such as insufficient supply on the content production side, need to improve network transmission capacity, and low penetration rate of ultra high definition terminals on the user side. It is urgent to break through the breakpoint and bottleneck between supply and demand. The deployment of ultra high definition plug-in micro set-top boxes on a scale of tens of millions launched at this exhibition is a key step in solving user pain points. In response to the challenges of traditional set-top boxes, such as multiple connections, remote controls, and complex operations, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television has collaborated with nearly 80 units to develop 17 ultra high definition plug-in micro set-top boxes. These boxes feature a compact design and hidden connections that are more aesthetically pleasing; Paired with a universal remote control that can achieve "one click power on/off, one click live streaming", it simplifies user operations. It is reported that the new plug-in set-top box has reduced its size by more than 80%, with power consumption as low as 5W, supports plug and play, and greatly reduces the installation threshold for users. Wang Zhi, a member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau, stated that Beijing is promoting the "Ultra HD Household Action" and advancing the comprehensive replacement of cable TV Ultra HD set-top boxes. "We plan to complete the replacement target of standard definition set-top boxes by the end of June. Along with the upgrading of set-top boxes, the localization process is also accelerating simultaneously. Li Wenwei, Director of the Technical Committee of Guangdong Radio and Television Station, revealed that in the construction of Guangdong TV's 4K ultra high definition channel, the proportion of domestic equipment application has reached 78%, and the basic IT equipment has achieved 100% national production. It is reported that with the support of the four major telecom operators, the nationwide deployment of millions of units will be completed this year. This will not only significantly improve the quality of cable TV and IPTV services, but also promote technological innovation in terminal devices such as televisions and set-top boxes, and remove the "last mile" barrier for the popularization of ultra high definition. Not only that, policies and standards will also be gradually introduced to ensure the smooth implementation of ultra-high definition. Beijing, Guangdong and other places have included ultra high definition televisions and laser projection televisions in the "trade in" policy, reducing the cost of household upgrades through the "national subsidy, national network investment, and provincial network fundraising" model.
